Is it me, or are brain aneurysms the new black?

29 June 2009, 18:27

Today Peter Morrissey had brain surgery for a burst aneurysm. Too bad, really - he could have helped me with my fringe dilemma.

Accidental Fringe

29 June 2009, 08:28

Post-Annie fringe is at the v. awkward stage. Most days I can’t even comb it down (and if I do it gets that sexy comb-over look which is totally brylcream…), for the most part it’s all tufty and fluffy and sticks up like a peahen. It took me about 5 minutes to get this sensational half-mast look for the photo. I think I preferred it when I had a bald strip. At least I could get the rest of the hair to cover it.

Accidental Fringe

What should I do with it? Long flowy fringe that I can tuck behind my ears? Thickish bob fringe? I gotta do something with it. This week. Help me. Please.

Conversation in the kitchen

23 June 2009, 13:06

Scout: Mummy, can I smell you?
Mum (huh?): Umm, ok?
Scout sniffs in a big load of Mum’s neck.
Scout: Mmmmm, mummy, you smell like lolly bags…

Now, was this daughter of mine trying to tell me something?

10 years together

21 June 2009, 19:03

June 20, 1999. The Crowded PwC Annual Ball (Hint of Horror was the theme). Two star-crossed lovers (“You’re not a Pisces are you???”) meeting for the first time. Kinki thinks she’s met her ultimate tall, dark and handsome man. Turns out 2 out of 3 aint bad. The stage is set. Fade to marriage.

10 Years together

Hell, I’m not ashamed to confess that I’m sentimental. I was summarily informed when we got married that I was not to have two anniversaries (marriage and first meeting) but 10 years is different, dude. A decade! That’s a quarter of my life and a third of McG’s life. That’s a long time, people.

So we celebrated today at Beate’s posh restaurant in Studley Park. Divine lunch - the best table in the corner of the enclosed balcony overlooking the river. Champagne cocktails. Sauvignon blanc. Saucy tarts (the dessert that is, not the company…) Very indulgent.

Love anniversaries. Any excuse to celebrate, I say.

Pain-free day

10 June 2009, 18:18

First day since Feb that I’ve gone without a Panadeine Forte for the whole day!!! Although, given the tremendous hangover I had yesterday (such a surprise, after downing a bottle of sparkling shiraz the night before) and requirement for PF every 4 hours, I reckon that may be considered drug-loading.

Bit of a milestone, nonetheless.
