Long Weekend at the Farm

RaindropRaindrop

11 adults (6 of whom I didn’t know) + 3 kids in a farmhouse in cold, often rainy weather could have been a MasterClass recipe for disaster (particularly after a 6 hour drive to Berringama!). Happily, the mix of personalities worked exceedingly well.

The kids splashed about in the rain, leaves and mud. Zoe and Scout shared a room and could be heard at ungodly hours (7ish) giggling hysterically with reprises of “I’m wearing a door!” hehehehehe “I’m wearing a bed!” hehehehehehe “I’m wearing a fairy!” hehehehehehehe, then descending upon our bed to retell their semantic adventures.

The grown-ups played Trivial Pursuit and Settlers of Catan all Sunday afternoon (oh, and all Sunday night), ate pancakes with bacon and maple syrup, drank too much espresso and listened to the pounding rain on the tin roof. Haven’t heard that sound for such a long time.

Only regret was that I didn’t get to hoon about on the quad bike as it was too muddy and when it wasn’t too muddy, too occupied by the boys who had never ridden it. A small violin plays for me somewhere…
