No. Not the sewing machine. The japanese parasol...

That is a beautiful picture. So simple.

Very nice use of light and form. I wish I had talent for taking photos, or doing anything artisitic for that matter. :) Sigh. Oh well, I guess I will have to console myself with going out and buying myself a new computer toy.

Fantastic monotone play of light and lines. I love this kind of visual simplicity whitout loosing the extreme sense of beauty!

What are they talking about? You didn't even get the whole thing into the picture!

I think maybe the thing is that you don't have to get the whole object into the picture! A lot of the photography I find inspiring, has focus on one part of the picture, for its emphasis on colour, line, pattern or whatever. I really liked the pattern/criss cross effect the parasol had.

Of course, its totally personal preference, some people like symmetry, some like offset, some like to see the whole object etc., so I don't think this pic will be everyone's cuppa tea!

I'm still an amateur at photography, so constructive criticism is always welcome.

Tom-san ga joku o ita, tabun, ne? Anyways, very nice formal composition imho... did you play with the crop much? And no, I don't mean a riding whip... get it? Kinki? Riding whip? Crop? I kill me.

Justin, I love it when you get all Japanese on me. Really. No, Kinki didn't "play" with the "crop" - in fact it's pretty much as you see it, maybe a tiny bit was chopped of all the sides.

Now you mention it though, I quite fancy that horsey-bitch thang with the riding whip and knee high brown boots (maybe with a nice matching houndstooth riding jacket - very English!). Hmmmmm, got me thinkin'...
